Islanda femminile, Algarve Cup agrodolce: solo nono posto finale, ma anche segnali positivi

Si è conclusa ieri la ventiquattresima edizione della Algarve Cup, manifestazione di calcio femminile che ha visto, tra le altre, la partecipazione della Nazionale islandese. Le ragazze di Freyr Alexandersson, tuttavia, si sono piazzate solamente al nono posto (su dodici partecipanti): un risultato a prima vista un po' deludente, ma che può essere rivalutato alla luce delle partite giocate.

Intervista a Freyr Alexandersson: l'allenatore che fa sognare l'Islanda con la nazionale femminile

Freyr Alexandersson è l'allenatore della nazionale femminile islandese di calcio. Ha iniziato a lavorare per la KSI, la federazione islandese di calcio, nel 2013. E' alla sua terza esperienza in panchina, dopo essersi seduto su quella del Leiknir Reykjavik dal 2009 al 2012 e del Valur dal 2012 al 2015.

Freyr è un allenatore molto giovane, è nato a Reykjavik nel 1982. Il Leiknir Reykjavik è la squadra in cui si è formato calcisticamente, prima come calciatore, dal 2001 al 2007. Con il Valur ha allenato la squadra femminile ed è stato assistente di quella maschile.

La nazionale da lui guidata ha concluso un girone di qualificazione strepitoso ed in Islanda ci sono molte aspettative sul percorso che le ragazze di Freyr potranno compiere ai prossimi campionati europei. Buona lettura!

Interview with Freyr Alexandersson: the coach of the Iceland women's national football team

Freyr Alexandersson is the coach of the Iceland women's national football team. He begins his work for KSI in September 2013. This is his third experience on the bench, after Valur women's and men's from 2009 to 2012 and Leiknir Reykjavik from 2013 to 2015.

Freyr was born in Reykjavik in 1982. At Leiknir Reykjavik he has been both as coach and player from 2001 to 2007.
